Events in 2007

2005/6

Our first fixture of the season was at Clifford's Tower, York, on 23 October, followed by a spot at a ceilidh in Pickering on 18 November in aid of Save the Children. St George's Day (Sunday 23 April) saw us dancing at Castle Howard, and we made a repeat performance at the City of York Folk Day at the Black Swan on Saturday 20 May.

On 10 June we hosted our first Day of Dance - a celebration of our coming of age as a team! Ten teams, from the Midlands to North Yorkshire, performed at various spots in the grounds of Castle Howard from noon until 4pm. All 130 of us also appeared at nearby Thornton-le-Clay and Old Malton. For a list of the visiting teams see the itinerary... On the weekend of 7 to 9 July we took part in the Sarum Tour, in and around Salisbury, organised by Sarum Morris; pictures in our gallery!

Our final fixture of the summer was at Fulford Show on Bank Holiday Monday, 28 August. We started the new season on Saturday 23 September at the Galtres Festival at Sutton Park, Sutton-on-the-Forest, just north of York.

2004/5

In September and October we had dance spots at ceilidhs in Pickering and Sleights and also danced at Ingleton as part of a team weekend away in the Yorkshire Dales. On 12 December we danced to entertain Christmas shoppers in St Mary’s Square, Coppergate, York. 19 March saw us at the Fig and Date Fayre, this year held in Long Eaton, near Nottingham, and 9 April, hosting a rapper workshop run by Whip The Cat Rapper.

On 23 April - St George's Day - we took part in the Joint Organisations Event at Newscastle/Gateshead, with our final spot of the day at the Sage. Our May Day dawn celebration was again a private event, but later in the morning we joined the Young Friends of Rowntree Park at their event. We performed again at the City of York Folk Day at the Black Swan on Saturday 21 May and on Saturday 18 June took part in the Yorkshire Coast Morris Weekend of Dance, in and around the Ryedale Folk Museum at Hutton-le-Hole. In early September we took part in the City of York Traditional Dance Festival, hosted by Ebor Morris - pictures in our Gallery.

2003/4

Our very first season began in November 2003 with the team dancing at the switch on of Pickering Christmas lights. Other fixtures included the City of York Folk Day at the Black Swan in May and the Gate to Southwell, organised by the Dolphin Morrismen, at Nottingham in June. Between mid-May and late August we danced out every Monday night at different pubs in North Yorkshire including Coxwold, Malton, Leavening and Riccall. A highlight of the year was dancing at dawn on May Day – dancing in semi-darkness until we could see the sun coming up over the Howardian Hills!
